    I have a SAN drive on my local network, and have it mapped as "X:" I have mapped my Documents and Downloads folders to that drive. Works great. When I click on Downloads in File Explorer it takes me to the folder on the SAN.BUT, I also have a Downloads folder on my local C: drive, created by Windows during the install. If I try to create a shortcut to that folder on my desktop, Windows immediately remaps the shortcut to point to "X:". NO, that's not what I told it to do. I've gone into Properties for the shortcut, manually changed the target to Downloads on the C: drive, and Windows changes i

    Thanks for replying to us with the status of your issue.

    We appreciate you for trying the troubleshooting steps.

    As the issue still persists, I suggest you to Shared Folders troubleshooter and check if it helps.

    Follow the below steps:


    • Type troubleshooting in the search area on the taskbar and select
      Troubleshooting.

    • Select Troubleshooting.

    • Select View all on the top left corner.

    • Click Shared Folders.

    • Follow the on-screen instructions to run the troubleshooter.
