  1. Should I upgrade my Win-10 Home from 32-bit to 64-bit?

I have 10-year-old x64-based PC, 4 GB RAM and upgraded my Hard disk to 2 TB.

    Processor - IntelR CoreTM2 Duo CPU E4600 @ 2.40GHz, 2400 Mhz, 2 Cores, 2 Logical Processors

I have Win-10 Home 32-bit version which is working fast enough. even though my PC can support 64-bit OS

Should I upgrade my OS to 64-bit version?

    :)

    Upgrade Windows 10 32-bit to 64-bit.

You have to do a "clean install" of Win 10 64 bit. There is no "upgrade" process from 32 to 64 bit.

Did you have Win 7 Home or Pro. There is no "free upgrade" from Win 7 Home to Win 10 Pro. You have to do that upgrade in at least 2 steps:

Win 7 Home to Pro to Win 10 Pro

    OR

Win 7 Home to Win 10 Home to Win 10 Pro

The 32 bit to 64 bit upgrade is a separate additional step.

Run the WinVer command. What Version and Build do you have?

If you have Version 1803, many people have reported "accidental" upgrades from Home to Pro by MS. But that "upgrade" doesn't work!

    Windows 10 Upgrade 32-bit to 64-bit

So, Windows 10 Upgrade is being rolled out worldwide, and I have 'reserved' my upgrade.

Currently my computer is running Windows 7 Pro 32-bit. I'm planning to 'upgrade' it to Windows 10 64-bit (via fresh install, of course).

After reading many references, these will be the steps I'll do:

    1. Let the "Get Windows 10" app upgrade my OS to Windows 10 32-bit
    2. Note the activation key
    3. Download the Installation Media for Windows 10, but choosing 64-bit instead
    4. Perform a clean install
    5. Reactivate using the activation key in Step #2

(Of course I'll backup my data first.)

However, I still have some questions:

    1. On Windows 7, the activation key does not differ between 32- or 64-bit versions. Is it still so with Windows 10?
    2. Will I be able to download a different architecture on Step #3?
    3. Is there anything I need to prepare beforehand?

    Thank you for your assistance.

    32-bit to 64-bit

I received the free upgrade from Win 7 Pro (32-bit) to Win 10 Pro (32-bit). Can I upgrade to Win 10 Pro (64-bit)?
