Windows 10: Side By Side Configuration is Incorrect

Hello everybody,

I have recently run into an issue with pretty much all of my applications, accept for a select few ones. Chrome, Default Windows apps (settings, control panel, command prompt, etc.) and OBS Studio seem to be unaffected. However, most apps and games I use all the time including Rocket League, Steam, CS:GO, Epic Games Launcher, Fortnite, and anything along those lines seem to run into the same issue.


I have gone everywhere looking for a solution, uninstalling all versions of Visual C++, and then reinstalling them. Nothing has seemed to work.


I have looked at my Event viewer, and this is what has come up for me;


Activation context generation failed for "System Default Context".Error in manifest or policy file "C:\WINDOWS\WinSxS\manifests\x86_microsoft.windows.gdiplus_6595b64144ccf1df_1.1.17134.472_none_73d7c4b19f76b841.manifest" on line 0. Invalid Xml syntax.


I have no idea what to do, as I have tried all things I could find on the internet.

Side by side configuration incorrect


Hi
I'm attempting to install some software (namely sage accounts ) on a fresh install of windows 10 pro.
After installation (which appears to be successful) I receive the "error side by side configuration incorrect " when trying to run the app ..
I have googled the hell out of this and only find threads suggesting deleting all c++ versions and re installing.

I have tried several re installs of the software and following the above guide to no avail.. can anyone suggest a fix for this please ??

Regarding your issue with side by side configuration is incorrect, we suggest to check this article:

Prevent "The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect..." error starting Access. It contains troubleshooting steps pertaining the issue.
