  1. Sign-In Background does not appear on reboot

Anyone know how to make the sign-in background appear on restart / boot up with Lock Screen disabled?

I had a custom background for sign-in background. It works whenever i locked my screen (after login). However, when i restart or boot up, it will show a blank (solid blue) sign-in background. I had disabled Lock Screen with the "NoLockScreen" registry since i do not want the lock screen. However, i do want it to be displayed as sign-in background before login from a restart.

    Nobody tried to achieve that?

Edit: Corrected the title to reflect the issue. What I tried to achieve is to have sign-in background displayed after a reboot.

    :)

sign in box does not appear on start or when lifting lid, but only on restart

Thank you. You are right, and deserve credit. My lack of knowledge and hesitancy led me to seek a more immediate interactive approach, which is missing in the forums.

(Sort of like going to the ER instead of going online)

Don't be offended. It was me who skimmed and disregarded.....

    Have a good day.

sign in box does not appear on start or when lifting lid, but only on restart

System File Checker found no problems.

    Clean boot is now default.

    I also disabled Fast Start.

None of these remedied the issue.

However, when I turned off WiFi before shutting down that seemed to work.

Now, the question is, how can the PC be programmed to automatically turn off every time the lid is shut or the power is shut down, without having to go through that extra step manually.... But more importantly, why should that be an issue in the first
    place.

Without that fix, when I choose restart on the opening screen that does not contain the sign in box, I get this message: "If you restart now, you and any other people using this PC could lose unsaved work."

Sign-In Background does not appear on reboot

    Hello,
    Try
How to Set a Custom Logon Screen Background on Windows 7, 8, or 10

Otherwise, did you or do you have the log-in background set the same as your lock screen?

Please note the way in which the lock screen background is generated after a restart is different to other cases.

Or - have you customised your log-in screen by another method?

  5. Hi,

Yeap. I had the log-in background set the same as my lock screen.

First i enable lock screen (NoLockScreen=0 in registry), then i can customize my lock screen with custom background and choose to "Show lock screen background picture on the sign-in screen" option.

After that, i disable the lock screen (NoLockScreen=1 in registry) since i do not want a Lock Screen. I only want a custom background on the sign-in screen.

However, whenever i reboot or boot up windows. The first time sign-in screen is blank (solid blue color). As soon as i sign-in and lock my PC, then i saw the custom sign-in background. It looks like before i login, it doesn't know what background image to show as sign-in background.

    Any idea?

Disable the setting to set the log-in screen the same as your lock screen (which you aren't using).

Then try customising it as per my previous post.

The sign-in screen from restart is generated differently so you will need to allow for that.

Sign-In Background does not appear on reboot

You're rght - that's out of date. Your options seem limited to setting the login screen like the lock screen, or blank or MS default.

  9. Ah.. Having sign-in background after login is better than blank. *Tongue
Will stick back to it. Thanks for clarifying.
