Since one week ago Microsoft Update?, I can no longer open photos in Explorer ; I get "not implemented" message. Help!

JPG photos sent via Yahoo no longer opening

JPG photos sent via Yahoo no longer opening when moved to desktop; message is that files are no longer supported but they were and have been for an awfully long time, the last time only a week ago. I have Windows 10 which was updated only a few days ago.

 

Can no longer open Microsoft Photos

Hello Canaman,

I suspect there might be some issue with Photo app database. Check for any update for photo app in Windows Store, if available install the same. Most probably it will fix the issue.

Method 1: Try to run the built-in Windows Store Apps troubleshooter and check if it helps.

• 
  Press Windows Key then type ‘troubleshoot’, select the
  Troubleshooting from the list and hit Enter.
  
• 
  Select “View all” on the left panel and run “Windows Store Apps” troubleshooter from the list and see if it works.
  

Method 2: Try to reset the Photo app database by following the below steps.

• 
  Press Windows Key + R.
  
• 
  Copy/paste or Type the following path into the run command.
  

%appdata%\..\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Windows.Photos_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState

• 
  Erase all the contents of that folder and then try to open the Photo app to check if problem still persist

Microsoft Prepares 12 Patches for Next Week

Microsoft informs us that it will release 12 security updates next week on February 12, 2008, matching the patch record set a year ago. Seven of the 12 will be tagged with the company's highest threat ranking - critical. Among the other dozen updates listed in the prepatch notification posted to the Microsoft web site this morning, are three slated for Microsoft Office, three for Windows, two for Internet Information Server (IIS), and one each for Internet Explorer, Microsoft Works, VBScript and JScript, and Active Directory.
