Windows 10: Since update to 1909 File Explorer goes black for a moment every time I open a folder

Update from 1903 to 1909/build 18363.778


Since the update, File Explorer goes black for a moment every time I open a folder. It actually seems to be for a moment in dark mode because I can see the text in white. It is very distracting.


The problem did/does not exist in:

All accounts in 1903

My 1909 Admin account

My 1909 Admin and User account on my tablet.


The accounts on the PC have the same settings as on the tablet.


I have not changed any settings since the update


The color settings in Personalization for all accounts on both devices are as follows::


Background: Solid color: Selected


Colors

Choose your color: Custom

Choose your default Windows mode: Dark

Choose your default app mode: Light

Transparency effects: On


Accent color: Selected


Show accent color on the following surfaces

Start, taskbar and action Center: Ticked

Title bars and window borders: Ticked


The problem is only on the User account on the PC.


SFC and Restore Health already run.

When I install update 1909 the background color of my explorer folders changes to BLACK.

I am guessing my last message wasn't clear. I am running 1903 RIGHT NOW in dark mode and the background of my folders is white. When I install 1909 the background of my folders is changed to black regardless of what mode (light or dark)
I choose in my Personalization settings. This is why am I still running 1903. Every time I have tried to install 1909 the folder issue occurs or installation fails completely.

Cannot open file explorer

Hello,

I have recently not been able to open the file explorer, or the recycle bin. I recently updated my windows 10 to the newest update. When I do click on the file explorer it loads for a moment and then the screen goes black before flashing back to my desktop.

I am aware that there are several proposed fixes such as

• Setting the display on the text and apps to the recommended (200%) version (and 175% as well as 150%)
• Restarting the file explorer in the task bar

I have tried both of these and neither of them have worked. Any ideas?

• When did this problem start?
• Were there any hardware/software changes on your computer prior to this happening?
• What troubleshooting steps have you tried so far?

In the meantime, you may try to run the System File Checker tool
to scan for corruptions in Windows system files and restore corrupted files that may be causing this issue. We also suggest to try booting your system in
Safe Mode and let Windows run in a basic state, limiting the files and drivers running in the background that
