Windows 10: Size error for update reported???

So how big is this going to be, WUMT says 195GB - the Windows update says 2.68GB ?????

 

Windows Update is the accurate figure.

If you let windows update do the job, it will (eventually) have downloaded the 2.68GB it says it needs for the update to version 1709, but will then want to download the cumulative update after that (about another 1GB). You have already downloaded the standalone installer for that by mistake, so you could save precious download allowance and use that to update it as soon as 1709 has installed.

If you go for the manual update and use the Media Creation Tool to make the install media, that's about 3.4GB to download. Again, you could use the standalone installer to make it completely up to date once it's been installed.

 

Using the Windows Fall 'Update Now' option on the page linked to above did the trick.

It took just over an hour to download and install the update - so job done.

An hour is about right if all goes smoothly. It takes me about the same time when I do it from the install media I had already downloaded.
