  1. SkyDrive requesting special permissions on the OneDrive app

I downloaded the desktop app OneDrive on my Windows 10 PC, and frequently on startup of the OneDrive app or while I'm using it, a pop-up shown to be from Microsoft reappears. I'm not usually very attentive to apps requesting certain permissions, but this stood out to me because I know SkyDrive was rebranded as OneDrive long ago, and the message stated that "the publisher has not provided links to their terms for you to review", which would be unusual for Microsoft. Needless to say, I click 'No' every time, but I would like to not have to see it anyways. I downloaded OneDrive well after I had Windows 10 installed on my PC, as well as long after the SkyDrive service was rebranded. A transcription of the pop-up is below.

Let this app access your info?

    App info
Microsoft SkyDrive needs your permission to:
    • Access OneDrive files
    • Have full access of your contacts
Accepting these permissions means that you allow this app to use your data as specified in their terms of service and privacy statement. The publisher has not provided links to their terms for you to review. You can change these permissions at https://microsoft.com/consent. Show details

  2. Windows 10 - OneDrive

Right click on the app and one of the properties has an option to not automatically start it. Uncheck, restart the computer, and it should stop. If you want to go another step further, find the OneDrive app in the start menu, right click on it and uninstall.

If that is still insufficient, there is a batch uninstaller for OneDrive available online. I can copy the code here if you need it.

    Old Skydrive removal

I'm actually asking for a friend who upgraded from W8.1 to W10. He has both Onedrive and Skydrive listed in Windows Explorer. The question is how to remove Skydrive and keep Onedrive. He has tried renaming Skydrive; well here is a quote from his email to me" I tried renaming Skydrive and then deleting it but when you try to open OneDrive on the desktop the file can't be found?"
