Version: 8.46.76.59

Skype has always been the easiest way to share your screen with others and now we're taking one of our most popular features to Skype for Web Preview on a Chrome browser! Thanks to this new feature, you no longer need extensions or plugins, just login to Skype for Web Preview on your desktop through your Chrome browser and start sharing your screen by clicking on the share screen icon. Screen sharing on Chrome is available on Chrome version 72+. Check your Chrome version by selecting About Google Chrome from the App menu.

Login to Skype for Web at preview.web.skype.com to test this feature, we would love to hear from you!

Skype for Web (Preview) 8 now available

Hello! Skype for Web is the easiest way to enjoy Skype's features without downloading the app. We are pleased to announce we've brought the latest version of the Skype experience to the web.

You can enjoy these features available exclusively on Skype for Web (Preview):

HD Video Calling: Experience HD in one to one or group video calling - now with call reactions.

Call Recording: Capture those special moments in a Skype call with your loved ones or record important meetings with colleagues.

Notifications Panel: Grab a cup of coffee and catch up on what you've missed by clicking the bell icon to access your notification panel. From this central place you'll see reactions to your messages, @mentions in group conversations, or if someone quoted you. Jump to the conversation by clicking the message in the notification panel.

Chat Media Gallery: Looking for the link your bestie sent a few weeks ago? Quickly find shared content in the chat gallery. Just click Gallery to see media, links and files - you can even sort by type!

Find within Conversations: You can now easily find messages in the current conversation.

Great news for Skype for Linux users—the next generation of Skype for Linux is launching! Starting today, you can download Skype Preview for Linux and start enjoying new features across all your devices—including screen sharing and group chat.

Bring calls to life and collaborate on projects with screen sharing

With Skype for Linux, you can take advantage of the screen sharing feature on your desktop screen. Now, you can share content with everyone on the call—making it even easier to bring your calls to life and collaborate on projects.

Turn everyday conversations into experiences with group chat

The new group chat feature for Skype for Linux allows you to talk with several friends at the same time. We even included options to personalize chats with emoticons, Mojis, and photos so you can express yourself with your own style. It’s a great way to turn your everyday conversations into experiences.

The next generation of Skype for Linux is part of our broader strategy to rebuild Skype from the ground up with cloud technology—a more reliable platform that can scale to a much bigger audience. We’re making great improvements in the ways you like to connect with people and bringing your world closer together than ever before.

As a reminder—all Skype for Linux clients (versions 4.3 and older) were retired on July 1, 2017. If you’re running an older version, it’s time to upgrade to the Skype Preview for Linux.

We also recommend making sure that you have an up-to-date microphone and webcam for video calls, so you can take advantage of all the new features this preview version has to offer.
