    Sleep mode and other issues

I am windering if there is a way to take back control of my computer? It seems as time goes on a person has less and less control over one’s computer. The issue i have now is related to sleep mode. I often have several programs running at the same time as well as a few IE sessions running. I often have too many things running to shut down the computer at the end of the day but want to put the computer into sleep mode so it has a chance to cool off overnight. Heat is not good for electronics so the downtime overnight will allow the computer to ‘rest’ or cool down but about 70% of the time when I go to use it at 5 or 6 AM the computer is not in sleep mode and the fan is often running at a high rate of speed so it is obviously not in sleep mode and is doing something cpu intensive enough to cause the fan to operate at a high speed like it would be if i was doing some pretty cpu intensive things during the daytime.

can someone tell me how to force the computer into sleep mode and have it stay in sleep mode until I wake it up and not when Microsoft decides to wake it up?

a couple of other issues, is there a way to keep the scroll bars on the screen instead of having them disappear? Sometimes if you go to the side the scroll bar appears immedately but other times if you have a few things running it can take a few seconds for it to appear. I can’t understand why it disappears rather than having it stay visible all the time?

another issue is the flyup from the bottom of the screen showing a scrollable list of things that are currently running. I have a program that requires me to go down to the bottom of the screen frequently and everytime i get close to the bottom of the screen the scrollable list pops up and you have to use the escape key to close it. It gets frustrating and is a complete waste of time to have to close the list a few hundred times a day. As all of the programs already have a button on the task bar to allow you to switch to a specific program the flyup list is totally unecessary and a complete waste of time so would like to turn this feature off or disable it.

    thank you

    :)

  3. open the desktop from sleep mode

    Hi Abhishek,

Thank you for posting on Microsoft community.

To understand the issue better, I suggest you to answer the below questions.

    • How are trying to start the computer from the sleep mode?
    • Since from when are you facing this issue?
    • Did you make any changes prior to the issue?
    • Are you able to shut down or restart the machine?
    • What happens when you try to come out of Sleep mode?
I would suggest you to force shutdown the computer and start the computer and check what happens.

If you are able to login to normal mode then follow the below steps to restore the power setting/plan to default.

    • Press Windows + X keys, and select the option
      Control Panel.
    • Click on the Power Options icon.
    • Click on Change plan settings.
    • Select the option “Restore default settings for this plan”.
Please post us back with more information and if the issues resolves to help you better.
