Windows 10: Slide/Film Scanner

I have a Digitech Xc 4881 slide/film scanner which worked perfectly with earlier Windows. With Windows 10 all seems ok until I click aquire from photo scanner and I get the message Scanner is not connected. Windows 10 does not seem to recognise the USB of the scanner. I have tried both USB ports and tried to add scanner device with no luck. The scanner was purchased in 2014 and even so it may no longer be supported by Digitech. Could it be a driver issue? I have tried everything I know without success.

Maplin Film and slide scanner N16JA

I have a Maplin N16JA 5Mp Film & slide scanner.

This worked ok with Vista 32 bit, however I have recently upgraded my laptop to Windows 10.

I have reinstalled Arcsoft Mediaimpression 2 that came with the scanner. Everything seems ok until I try and acquire a slide from the scanner. Program tries to configure the scanner, then I get a message " an error has occurred and the program has stopped".
Close the program.

When I looked for the scanner in device manager I find that it is a camera, however the resolution of this camera is not of 5Mp, so when I use the camera to take the slides the quality is very poor.

I have tried running the program as Win7 and Vista 32 bit as well as XP, but the results are the same.

Any ideas how I can get it to work again, or maybe use the full resolution of the scanner as a camera.

Yes I bought a Chinese film slide scanner from Amazon which unfortunately had the usual 5 or 6 pages of gibberish instructions, but with the help of a tech savvy neighbour who immediately binned it had it running in about 5 minutes.

It works quite well and pleased with the results but found it difficult to get the contrasts right so it's a bit too harsh in places.

Epson 1200 scanner now working! Very pleased.


Worked perfectly,

• Installed 2400 series driver (when it asked what model I had I also picked, 1270 and 4180 since these had the Slide scanner interface I thought it might add a few extra drivers)
• Restarted PC
• Needed to use Device manager 'Updated driver'
• Assign 2400 driver. (See attached image)
• Be sure scanner is powered on so it appears in device manager.

Tested the Slide scanner attachment, I used PRO mode and it was discovered.
I had to use the plastic blackout slide holder (for masking the slide) to find the slide though.
