Windows 10: Slow Memory leak memory is increasing slowly after 1 week is 90%

we have windows 10 of a new hp pc prodesk 400 g3 mt business pc. we cannot identify the problem.. we used the hp drivers software and fully updated windows 10 and the latest drivers. Please recommend troubleshooting steps what is causing the problem.

Recurrent Memory Leak - Windows 10

First of all, I've searched all Internet about memory leak on windows 10, but I've not yet found something similar to what is happening to me.

I'm on Windows 10, up to date will all automatics updates on drivers. Since about 3 or 4 months ago, I'm experiencing memory leaks after 6 or 7 days of using the PC. I'm not sure, but this probably started after the windows 10 update that introduced the
feature where my previous session is restored after a normal shut-down.

I always open the task manager after starting the PC, and the day the memory leaks occurs, I see the memory usage increasing about 1% per second, until it reaches 99%. There's no specific task that seems to be consuming the memory. I try cancelling all
processes one by one and the memory leak does not stop.

Any ideas on what can be causing this?

Windows 10 dwm.exe memory leak causing out-of-memory error

Process called dwm.exe (Desktop Windows Manager) is leaking memory badly over time and eventually causing out-of-memory errors on routine activities such as browsing the web. Its memory usage is less than 100MB of "commit" memory after reboot but this gradually
increases to over 10GB and cause havoc to my system with 12GB memory after a day or so of my typical non-heavy computer usage.

My setup is W10 Pro x64, updated with the latest patch. Haven't noticed this in the past, just started to happen this week.

With the current provided information we cannot help you.
Post a screenshot of taskmanager, tab 'Processes', filtered on 'Memory' (click on it to filter) so we can see what is happening.

 

The kernel memory (non-paged pool) is abnormal high, it should normally be a few hundred MBs, this may be a lead FYI.
Reboot the system and let us know how much the kernel memory becomes, if it comes near the amount of what is shown in the picture then there is/are device drivers leaking memory.

 

We reboot every 1 week it need time so the memory increases slowing.. everything starts normal after 1 week we have the same results. the problem is that we cannot find what drivers is causing the leakage.as they are many drivers.. when we use poolmon.exe . Can you help us find this memory leak

 

There is a pretty easy way to find out what driver(s) causes the leakage using driver verifier, unfortunately it doesn't come without any risk for which I've written some suggestions below in case they occur although it doesn't happen often.

To enable driver verifier for the memory leakage:

• Search verifier and click yes on the request of UAC if you get it,
• Choose 'Create custom settings' and click next,
• Choose 'Pool tracking' and click next,
• Select 'Select driver names from a list' and click next,
• Select all drivers except the onces from Microsoft,
• Click 'Finish', you'll be prompted to restart the computer, click 'ok' and reboot the system (reboot won't happen automatically)

Please note that the reboot process sometimes is problematic when driver verifier is enabled, I recommend that you follow below suggestions BEFORE you reboot.
Please make a backup of your important files and get your rescue media or create one.
Please create a restore point.

If driver verifier has found a violation and you can't get back into windows normally, try to boot into safe mode and reset in safe mode driver verifier, or in the troubleshooting options open command prompt and type verifier /reset.

The system may act very sluggishly while driver verifier is enabled, this is normal as your drivers will be being subjected to heavy testing in order to make them crash.

When a BSOD occurs a dump is being generated, in this dump is shown what driver causes the problem. With driver verifier no other report is generated than a dump.

Normally it is suggested to leave it running for 24h, or sometimes 48h, but in this case given the description I suggest to leave it running for about 4 days or until a BSOD occurs.

I find it an easy way to track it down, I'm not familiair with pool monitor as I don't have it so I can't help tracking down the cause with that and real quick I wouldn't know another way to find the cause.

If a BSOD occurs, go into the %systemroot%\minidump where a dump file should be created. Right click this file, choose 'send to' > 'compressed (zipped) folder' and upload this zip file.

 

we have left the system more than 7 days and the pc did not BSOD occurs. we are still waiting until a BSOD occurs. memory is full we dont have control of the operating system. What if we disable non pageing on the disk..
