Windows 10: Slow performance on Windows 10 laptop after creators update.

Have you tried the steps a gave you above ?
"xbootmgr -trace boot -prepSystem -verboseReadyBoot"

 

It's stuck at Preparing System in the second run. Don't know how to end it.

 

vikaskharkwal, did you try switching to different power plan? Perhaps they have some power settings recommendation on ACER support site (there is one surely). Wont help much with slow boot, but could help with overall performance.

Edit: also there are some threads on ACER site about high CPU usage...

 

It seems that it's stuck, But it's not. This operation can take houres, depending on the disk size and the amount of data. This is why you should disable Bitdenfender to not add overhead.

 

I've already uninstalled Bitdefender. I only installed it to scan my computer to check if there are any malwares.

 

Have you stopped the execution of the command or it's still running ?

It took over an hour in preparing system step in the second run so I cancelled. If it fixed that guys laptop, I can try it. BTW, there has been a significant improvement, not the boot but the general usage. The laptop no longer behaves like a slow machine. Still app opening time and response while opening action center is there. Hope this helps. Will update if this works.

 

Let the command go through the whole steps and be patient. As I said it can take hours but it worth a try ...

 

I'm planning to run it overnight. Is there any way to bypass the login so that i don't have to login after every restart and the process continues without any need of me. I'm logged in with my Microsoft account so removing the pin won't help and I don't want to remove my account from my device.

I tried your method and it completed. But I don't see any sign of improvement over what happened before. Should I try turning on fast boot?

 

Can you upload the latest boot trace generated by xbootmgr command. you can find it under your profile it's named boot_BASE+CSWITC I think. I'll see what has changed since, and if there always a lot of disk activity. sometimes the problems are underlyed...

 

Do you need only the .etl file or the .cab file as well. BTW, is this the file?
