Windows 10: Smart TV remote control handset

I can access the internet from my Smart TV --- Digihome ---- but I have not found how to access the A to Z keys on the handset, for entering urls and search terms in a browser. All I can get is the numbers shown on the keys, not the letters below them.I suspect this is quite basic, but if I did know I have forgotten. Can someone help?

• What is the make and model of your Smart TV?

Nobody out there with a Samsung Smart TV? This remote is sweet just needs a home

 

Smart TV

I have a smart TV connected to my network. It seems that every time I turn on my TV windows will list it as a new device. I regularly have to delete all these Smart TV devices, since after a period of time I can have up to 50 device listing for my TV.
Is there any way to prevent this from happening?
