  1. Snap Feature not working correctly

    Hey all,

I recently upgraded to windows 10 (bought a new lenovo thinkpad) from windows 7and I'm learning all about the new features. One feature I haven't gotten to 100% work properly is the "snap" feature. I can drag a window to a side of the screen fine, and then the "snap assist" feature activates which brings up options of what other window would you like to open in the unused space. I click on an option and instead of that window automatically clicking and filling in the unused space it just opens normally, and I have to drag the window manually to the unused snap space. All of the guides/videos online have it working flawlessly, but I always have to manually snap the two windows.

If this is too confusing here is an example: word, chrome, excel open. I drag chrome to far left side to snap to left. Snap assist turns on and small boxes of word and excel appear on the right side of my screen. I click word to try and snap to unused right side and instead it just opens normally without snapping. So to snap my word to the right side of the screen I have to manually drag it and snap it on the right myself.

Sorry if it's confusing and thanks for the help in advance!

  2. We need a better Snap feature!

Snapping windows in win8 was amazing, having a list view on the rightside of the screen was really handy, it let you slide in an app next to your already open application. In windows ten this feature no longer exists. I now need to swipe right tap my app,
shrink it down then find my app to put side by side... extra steps are annoying.

Now that apple came out with a similar feature on their ipad, theirs actually works better than windows 10! Please make this feature more intuitive bring back the old snapping from windows 8!

Also add a thin bar between windows that i have snapped when in desktop mode so that i can easily resize them.

  3. Accessibility feature of Windows Snap in Windows 10

    Hello,

The mouse sensitivity while performing a Snap works in tandem with how it works in Windows. So, changing the mouse sensitivity will not impact the Snap feature functionality separately.

So to answer to your query, there is no such dedicated control/settings to change how mouse gestures will work for Snap feature in Windows.

However, a work around in this case is to use keyboard shortcuts:

    • Windows + Left Arrow
    • Windows + Right Arrow
This works to snap windows to the left and right half of the screen respectively.

    Hope the recommendation is helpful.

  4. Snap Feature not working correctly

Windows 10 "snap" features no longer work with shortcuts after major update

After the recent major Windows 10 update after the notification that support for earlier Windows 10 base versions will cease in November, "snap" features stopped working with keyboard shortcuts.

All snap settings set to "enabled".

"Snap" still works when using the edge of the screen.

However, when using Win+Arrow the following features no longer work (simple snap to the side still does - the others do not):

    • no longer resizes adjacent windows & the "connecting border" between windows is missing
    • no longer opens the prompt with suggestions for selecting adjacent windows
    • doesn't allow for placing windows in 1/4 (corner) of the screen (Win+Right+Down) and the down arrow instead simply minimizes the window
