Windows 10: Snowy, Flickering Screen, it will Not Stop!

Seems it might be a common problem with Dell Laptops, have a look here for a possible fix? It is for Win 8.1 but I would think it's similar for Win10 Fixing the screen flickering on a Dell Inspiron N5720 (and maybe many others) | D's Lab Log

Most suggestions are it's related to a battery on the way out or having power saving settings on low, which ties in with the above link.

 

I been watching the videos, my question, do I need to go as far as actually removing the screen, or just up to that point, when looking for something loose? I am sorry for a kind of silly question, but heck.

 

No, you just need to go as far as the bit where it shows you how to disconnect the cables. Yours may have worked loose. It's difficult to tell just by looking, so try disconnecting and reconnecting them.

If that doesn't fix it then you may have a faulty screen. If you're really determined to fix this you could find a spare on ebay or a spares supplier, then you'd need to remove the screen.

 

Well Bree, I have taken the laptop apart piece by piece, bit by bit, nothing appeared loose, and I used can air to blow out any thing dusty, and it wasn't close to being dusty, now for the big one, it will not start back up, so I am thinking, "wow, now what?" Well this was my update.

Sorry to hear that.

Do you see any lights come on with the power supply connected? It should be able to run from the power supply without the battery fitted. Try it without the battery. When you try to turn it on does the screen backlight come on? Do you get the Dell logo? Any other screen messages or beep sounds?

As a general check, make sure that the memory is not loose, release it and then reconnect it. Do the same for any cables or connectors you took apart before.

 

Thank You, Bree, I just finished checking everything and I found this little itty, bity connection, that wasn't connection, and then the key board didn't respond, fixed it all, now able to log on and see the snowy, scratchy screen, so it didn't do anything to help...I am done...

 

There's always one connection that gets missed *Smile glad you found it.

My diagnosis is that the screen itself is faulty. If you can get a spare one cheap enough it might be worth replacing, at least you have the skills to do that now.
