Windows 10: Solitaire broken

Once again, Windows 10 is acting like garbage. This time it's the solitaire collection. When trying to start a new game, the ad runs for the restaurant game. OK, I don't mind watching the ads. I WILL NOT PAY. But now, when it ends, the "close" button isn't working. All that happens is that the "X Close" disappears for a moment, and then comes back.


This has happened with Klondike and Free Cell. So now I can play neither. That leaves Spider the other two are not of much interest to me. And I have no doubt it will act the same. Rather than paying MS, I might have to buy another solitaire pack, but I will never pay MS for what was always free. And also was a better pack, I might add.


Are you guys going to fix this, or is it just one more step down?


I'm going to buy a new computer later this year. I am actually thinking of giving Mac a look. Or maybe another option. MS has gotten progressively worse since 98. I started with 3.1.


I'm not sure if "Store" is the right place for this; that was a guess.

Solitaire Collecton is Broken


I have been using this collection for months now. All of a sudden, coincidental with a Windows update, I still get the splash screen for the Solitaire Collection but when I select a game the application shuts down. I have downloaded the latest version from the Store, twice, but it still fails.

So there is a broken piece somewhere.

I need more information about your concern. Is there any error message/code after Microsoft Solitaire fails to launch? Since the steps you have tried did not work, I suggest that you reinstall it instead. Follow the steps below:

• Open Windows PowerShell as an administrator. (Type PowerShell in Start menu search box, right-click and select Run as administrator)
• Type the following command and press Enter "Get-AppxPackage *solitairecollection* | Remove-AppxPackage"
• You can close the PowerShell window and restart your device.
• Open Store app and search for Microsoft Solitaire Collection and download the game.

Thank you for the information. It turns out that the twinapi.appcore.dll files are corrupted, that's why you're getting the said error message. We suggest that you uninstall Microsoft Solitaire Collection on your computer, and then perform
the following steps:

• Press Windows key + R to open Run.
• Type WSReset.exe and hit Enter.
• Open Windows Store and install Microsoft Solitaire Collection.

Once done, kindly check if the game works for you.
