[SOLVED] Multiple random BSODs, all pointing to the kernel

Thank you for responding. I will do these tests and get back to you. In the meantime, I have attached a dump of a BSOD I got this morning after turning Driver Verifier off, if it helps at all.

What should my page file settings look like? I have "Automatically manage paging file size for all drives" checked currently.

    UPDATE:

    - I ran all 3 tests with SeaTools, all passed.
    - I tried running the disk check from File Explorer but the options are a lot more limited than on Windows 7. It passed. Then I ran "chkdsk C: /f" from an elevated command prompt, but it would only let me do it on startup. It didn't error out or really tell me anything so I guess it worked.
    - I ran all the HD Tune Pro tests you wanted:

It also BSOD'd randomly during the long Seagate test. I have the dump if you wanna see it.

I ran Memtest and I got errors immediately. I am testing individual sticks right now and will get back to you. Thank you for suggesting that I try this step!

[SOLVED] Multiple random BSODs, all pointing to the kernel

Okay so I tried different stick and slot combinations, and the sticks/slots pass 8 times when only one is in at a time, but any slot combo with both sticks produces errors. Dual channel produces errors immediately on the first test, and non dual channel produces errors on the 9th test (random values).

Do you have any idea what the exact issue could be, and/or what step I should take next?

What are the specs of the sticks? (link would be easiest)

Please run CPU-Z | Softwares | CPUID, open it and make screenshots of the following tabs
    • CPU
    • Mainboard
    • Memory
    • SPD*
    • Graphics
*SPD shows the details of each module, you can show the details by choosing different slots in the left upper corner.
Please make screenshots of each module.

Please post each screenshot in your next reply/replies.

[SOLVED] Multiple random BSODs, all pointing to the kernel

I took my computer to a friend's place so that he could test my hardware versus his. I may not be able to take those screenshots you asked for for a while.

Can you tell me the exact info you are looking for? I have all the original boxes and documentation so I should be able to tell you what you need to know.

Below pictures you can see what CPU-Z shows, some things are greyed out and/or don't show anything with a laptop.

My friend tried 2 sticks of his RAM in my motherboard, and the last time I spoke with him he had completed at least one pass in Memtest86+. It is looking like my RAM sticks do not interact properly with one another. I will likely need new RAM. I will update you on what happens, and if the problem is not fixed with new RAM, I will get those screenshots for you.

Make sure the new modules are supported by your motherboard *Smile

My friend put new RAM in and tested it with Memtest86+ with no errors, and I have brought the PC home. I will let you know if I run into any more BSODs. In the meantime, here is that info you wanted:

[SOLVED] Multiple random BSODs, all pointing to the kernel

It has been 2 weeks with no BSODs, so it looks like the RAM was the culprit. I will mark the thread as solved.

Thank you again axe0 for being here in my hour of need. I am extremely grateful for your help, and if you are ever in Canada I will buy you a drink! *Smile
