Windows 10: Solving error code: 0x80070422 and Access denied when changing windows update to...

Hi Guys,


I'm facing issue when my windows trying to install .net Framework 3.5 and it prompted the error code as per my subject above. I tried to googled the solution and I think the solution should be changing the windows update to "Automatically" on Wndows 10 while mine is shown as "Disabled".


The problem is when i'm trying to change the startup type to "Automatically" instead of "Disabled" it prompted the error as "Access denied".


Is there anyone why there is the error prompted out and caused me to fail in changing the startup type for windows update. Please give me a solution if anyone know what is the problem going on.

Windows Update Error 0x80070422

Open admin Command Prompt and execute the following command:

Restart Windows and see if the Windows Update service starts correctly.

If you receive Access Denied error when running the above command, try resetting the Windows Update service registry key permissions to default.

Download RegASSASSIN from Malwarebytes and run it.
Input the following registry key:

In RegASSASSIN, don't forget to UNCHECK the Delete registry key and all subkeys checkbox before clicking on the Delete button.

You can use RegASSASSIN utility from Malwarebytes to reset the registry permissions for this key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\wuauserv





Now, see if you can change the Windows Update service Startup type using the Services MMC or Command Prompt.

 

Updated from 1903 to 1909. After the update, "WslRegisterDistribution failed with error: 0x80070422 Error: 0x80070422 The service cannot be started"

Hello,

I updated from Windows 1903 to Windows 1909. Now Ubuntu throws the error "WslRegisterDistribution failed with error: 0x80070422

Error: 0x80070422 The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it.". Also, when I try to start the LxssManager service it says that the access is denied. Why is the access denied if I had
full rights on my account before the update and it is the only created account? Also, how can the error be fixed?
