I know many wonderful people how addressed this issue, but for some reason all the suggestions don't work for me. I've tried multiple times with no change.

Context: Under Settings>Personalization>Background the message "*Some of these settings are hidden or managed by your organization" appears with the options below grayed-out.

What I've tried:
I'm the admin on my computer. I added another brand new user to see if the message was on their settings and it was. I've made sure all updates essential and optional have been installed, including SupportAssist updates. I've ran both gpedit.msc and regedit; under group policy Computer and User configurations I tried to disable/not configure all the background options followed by comp restart, as well as go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies and modify the DWORD hexadecimal same done to Telemetry too, but nothing has changed. I'm aware that I need to be careful when making changes in the registry, so when I noticed no results from the modifications, I returned the registry back to what it once was and have a back up in case **** hits the fan. The only thing I haven't restored was my deletion of the active desktop policy for both the HKEY_CURRENT_USER and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.

Other things to consider: I only noticed this issue about a week after realizing that my background is black. My User Profile picture is the standard pixelated silhouette as well. I have done nothing to bring this change. My wife did install Microsoft Teams, and I did have HP remote access and control my computer to fix a printer issue, but that's about it.

I'm at a loss for what to do. Thankfully I'm not an expert in this field and have this community to look to! Please help!! :

Thank you for the link. I was able to set my Diagnostics Data to Full by using gpedit.msc. But I still am not able to get rid of "Some settings are hidden or managed bu your organization."

Any advise?

The message "some settings are hidden or managed by your organization" means that some registry settings have been added/modified, either by editing the registry or through gpedit. Finding exactly where can be difficult. One way that can help is to open gpedit, in the left hand pane select 'Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates' then from the Action menu select 'Filter Options...'. Set 'Configured' to Yes and only those policies that are configured will be listed.





If you find a relevant policy, you need to set it to 'Not Configured' to remove the "some settings are managed...." message and the restrictions. If you don't find anything under Computer Configuration, look under User Configuration.
