Some Removed Web Credentials keep reappearing after reboot - W10P 20H2

Started cleaning out old Web-Credentials mostly stored by Internet Explorer. Not been using IE any more since initial EDGE appeared. The credentials listed in "Web Credentials" do not seem to get synced between machines anymore anyway.
Managed to delete the bulk of them but 3 entries persist on one of my machines.
They can be removed but will reappear after a reboot and are hence are only removed for the current session.

    - If I disable IE11 in Windows Features they will not! reappear
    - If I sign in to the machine with a local account instead of the Microsoft account they will not! reappear

    - Switching SYNCing off for Passwords or other Setting or ALL does not help they will reappear
    - Deleting Cloud Synced Settings for Microsoft Account does not help and they will reappear
    - Storing same credentials with IE11 and deleting them subsequently only works until next reboot. Then they reappear.

How do I remove these permanently?

  2. manage web credentials

    Hi Rose,

Thanks for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

To assist you better, I like to know; when you say program is gone from the list,
are you referring to Web credential program or credentials?

As per your query, I like to inform you that; when you select Remove under the specific credentials, it will remove the specific credential details. Since you have followed the correct steps to remove web credentials but the program is not available,
I suggest you to Run DISM commands and check if the Web credentials programs works.

Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM) is a new command line tool that you can use to service a Windows image or prepare a Windows PE image. The DISM tool replaces the Package Manager (pkgmgr.exe), PEimg, and Intlcfg tools.
DISM consolidates the functionality found in those three tools, as well as delivers new functionality to improve the experience of offline servicing.

Follow the steps to Run DISM Commands:

    1) Press Windows + x on your keyboard.

    2) Select Command prompt (Admin) to open Administrator Command Prompt .

    3) In the Administrator: Command Prompt window, type the following commands. Press the Enter key after each command:

    dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth

    dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

Reply to us with the status of your issue. We will be happy to assist you.

    Web Credentials cannot be accessed

    Hi Hermie,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

    1) When do you get this error? While accessing any file or while using Internet?

I suggest you to follow the below steps and check if it helps.

    1) Press Windows key + r and type services.msc.

    2) Right click Credential manager and Go to Properties.

    3) Select Manual from the Startup type drop down menu.

    4) Click Apply and OK.

    5) Restart your computer and check the issue.

If the issue still persists, I suggest you to delete the web credentials and then try to add it again and check.

In the Credential Manager, under Web Credentials remove the web credentials and check.

Please reply to us with the status of the issue.

    Thanks.
