Windows 10: Something crashes

When:

before i though its random, but Star Wars The Old Republic launcher started triggering it - once i log in, it happens within 10 minutes. It doesnt matter if launcher is downloading new files or reading existing ones. It also happens whether its alone or if other programs are running.

What:

taskbar, task manager, SWTOR launcher stops updating - it looks like if they froze but they react to right-click, but right-click menu opens like black square in programs or normal for split second and then goes black if its from desktop icon or taskbar. Any newly opened program window file explorer, notepad, Win+R, network diagnostic,...will be black yet responding. If i hover on icon on taskbar or on desktop its "description" will also be black.

Firefox browser is somehow immune to it, but right-click menu and file uploading window are black.


My GPU could be part of problem, it might overheat few times in past.

Temperatures were normal before it happens used Speccy to see them


I tried restrarting explorer.exe, didnt work.
Restarting computer fixes it.

Increase the window size step by step and watch your vga temps permanently.
What happens?
If it crashes, run at stock speeds as suggested before and retry.

P.S.: When your system locks, does the display signal turn off after a time?
Stuttering sound or no sound at all when freezing?
What X1800XT model do you own exactly?

ive watch my temps and both the cpu and gpu are within normal ranges. when it freezes it simply freezes the image and stops the sound. i must reboot to get back to windows.

W1zzard is asking you to test so that he can suggest next steps and be able to troubleshoot the issue you have.
If another version works, it would be one set of steps.
If several other versions also fail/crash, then it would be another.
