Windows 10: Something finally broke !!! @StartMenu

Discus and support Something finally broke !!! @StartMenu in Windows 10 Support to solve the problem; Well I'm not really in the mood of re-installing all the drivers and programs I have again, so I'll go for the update. Also, I don't really mind... Discussion in 'Windows 10 Support' started by Marron, Mar 25, 2015.

Go for it, nuthin wrong with goin that route; it takes a while though, depending on your connection and PC's abilities.
Be prepared to look at this 'hanging' for long periods of time:

I'll just let it go overnight. Or maybe just read a book in the mid time. Staring at loading screens is not one of my hobbies ...
And doesn't it do the heavy downloading before actually starting ? It sure looks like it to me:

Can you not attach your pictures rather than link them? I've got about 5000 tabs open of your lightshot pictures *Sad

For me, after the download I had perhaps 20 minutes stuck on 3% during the upgrade. Upgrade is terribly slow compared to clean install but if you sleep on it should be OK...

That's the easy part. After that, it's going to, essentially, 'lift' your OS and place in 'suspended animation', slip the new OS underneath then drop your stuff back in. That's what takes forever.

    Just a thought:
If you're going to walk away from it, set your machine to never sleep and never turn off display, just in case!

Just close them ... It takes literally 3 seconds to press the "PrintScreen" button, drag the region I want to upload and hit the upload button. Then it goes to background, and when done uploading a popup saying "Copy" and "Open". I hit copy and post the link.
Tell me the way you're uploading pictures to the forum. Maybe it's faster than what I have in mind. (Going to the linked picture, copy URL, and link picture to the forum).

    Amazing idea. Thanks.

Well OK - I was just being lazy - I prefer the story with pictures. I'm still a kid I guess.

You can upload pictures by clicking on the "go advanced" button then on "manage attachments" but if you find it easier not to I don't really care - you could read up on it while you are stuck on 3% installed though *Smile Screenshots and Files - Upload and Post in Ten Forums - Windows 10 Forums

    Something finally broke !!! @StartMenu

I saw a situation yesterday during a clean install with the new .iso. When I clicked the Start Button, the Search Box opened, but nothing else.

I noticed the Windows Shell Experience Host process was not running. Since I do not know how to start such a process from the System, I could not get it running again. I could get it running under my User, but that does no good. If yours isn't running, maybe someone else would know how to start it.

I think my situation happened when I was setting up the Store.

I might check and see the process could be started using PSExec from SysInternals.

Man. That command is amazing. It just solved another problem. All the items on the desktop went missing, but with that, it's fixed ! *Smile
