  1. Sony Headphones/Mic 3.5m jack input help

Si I have a pair of Sony ear phones that have a mic on them the sort you would use for a phone.

I used to use them on my old laptop for gaming and use them currently on my work computer for Teams meetings etc... on these two systems, the microphone is great. Never had any complaints from people over not being able to hear me etc...

I've just purchased a new laptop from PCSpecialist specifically for gaming. My friends now tell me they can hardly hear me at all. With my old devices all I did was plug the earphones into the jack input and never had to touch the settings.

With this laptop, I've tried every setting under the sun and watched countless youtube videos about 'setting up earphones' but none of them seem to cover the issue I'm having.

The microphone pics up sound, but I have to boost to 30db in order for my friend to hear me and he has to turn me down his end. I can't seem to just get a happy medium.

I still use the earphones for my work calls on my PC so I know there is nothing wrong with them.

When I go into settings on my new laptop - I don't have a 'JACK Mic' showing in the input. I've attached an image of what I do have. On my work computer, I have the device recognised a 'Jack Mic'

Please can someone help. This is really frustrating, I don't understand why I can't just plug it in and use it like I can on my other laptops and PC that are by FAR inferior in terms of system.

*EDIT - I forgot to mention that on my PC and other laptop - when the headphones/mic are plugged in, the 'test your microphone' bar goes up to full just when I talk normally. On my new laptop I have to shout in order for it get just above 1/4 of the way full

Headphone mic not working with laptop 3.5mm port

I have sennheiser hd4.40 wireless headphone. I also got a cable with headphone having 2.5mm pin(attached to headphone) to 3.5mm pin(attached to mobile phone).

Problem is that when i connect 3.5mm pin to my mobile phone headphone jack, in call i am able to use mic and headphone both at same time but:

    1. When i connect the 3.5mm pin to 3.5mm jack for mic on my laptop, i am not able to use the mic.(my laptop has separate 3.5mm mic and 3.5mm headphone jack)
    2. When i connect to 3.5mm jack for headphone, only headphone is working with laptop not mic.

Please do not suggest why I am not using Bluetooth because it is a separate problem.

I am missing something or maybe this may be limitation or something else. Help me on this. :-(

  3. Combo headphone jack does not detect mic

So, I have a laptop with a single headphone jack, and it has the little symbol with both an headphone and a mic.
I have bought a V-moda boom pro mic. The microphone is integrated in the cable, and the tip that goes in the jack has four "parts", as it should be. The headphones work just fine, the moment I plugged it in the sound came to my headphones, but the computer just keeps using the integrated mic instead of the one on the cable. I have checked the sound settings, nothing changes, neither in the Realtek manager.

The microphone came with a splitter, and i even tried plugging in only the mic part, but still nothing.

unfornatly, i don't have any other exterernal mic to test the jack with, and as far as I know, everything is updated

1x Headphone/mic combo jack not working

I have an Asus ROG GL551JW-DS71 gaming laptop, with a 1x headphone/mic combo jack that's supposed to allow me to use both headphones and a microphone. I use a headset with a separate headphone and microphone jack, and use a audio mic splitter that came
with it to connect to my laptop. The problem is that the mic is that the headset is not detected by windows. I hear sound out of the headphones, but when I speak, the only mic that picks up anything is the laptops. Please help, I'm a heavy gamer so not having
a functional mic is not a good thing.
