Windows 10: Sound issues

Hi,


So am having an issue with my sound. My machine is a Dell Precision 5510. Windows 10 64-bit.


I noticed the speaker icon on the bar at the bottom had a red cross. Upon hovering over it - "no speakers or headphones are plugged in". When I click into it, it list a few options of devices that I had previously connected. But no option to not use any device.

When I check the device manager, I see that "Intel High Definition Audio" appears under "Other devices".


I have tried uninstalling this driver from here - it instantly reappears when I "scan for hardware changes".

I have tried the windows troubleshooter.

I have tried the dell "Support Assist" which updated the BIOS and some other driver.

I have tried manually downloading and installing the "Intel HD graphics 530" display adapter. (This looked promising, as it also has the audio driver required for HDMI etc)

I tried updated all the drivers, rebooting a few times etc. No matter the "Intel Higg Definition Audio" remains under "Other devices".

Under "Sound, video and game controllers" I see Intel(R) Display Audio" and 2 other bluetooth speakers I once had connected.


And obviously if I simply go to sound setting and look a the "playback" tab, there is not even an option for (whatever the usual was).


Any ideas on how to solve this?

Good surround sound headset

I know you say you're not that guy, but stepping into the $250+ range really brings a change in build quality that might have you never having to buy another set. Otherwise, getting 6 speakers with decent sound in a headset is hard, and that's what you are asking for, and I have no suggestions, but just a bump up the list. *Stick Out Tongue

 

Sound problem

Hi,

We need to investigate further so that we can identify the cause of the issue. We suggest running the Troubleshooter and see if it helps. Follow the steps below:

• Type and select Troubleshooting on the Search bar/Cortana.
• Click Hardware and Sound.
• Select Playing Audio under Sound.
• Follow the steps that will be provided.

If the steps does not work. We suggest downloading a fresh copy of the audio driver from Realtek and see if it helps.

That's what the auto setting will do since you're over the 1333 mark it jumps to the next step which isn't listed or officially supported I assume by that ram.

At this point though I would suggest dropping the multi one step or .5 so that we can get something stable and possibly take the heat issue out of the picture for now.
