    sound popping


    Hello, i recently upgraded from a Windows XP operating system to a Dell Optiplex 3040 with Windows 10 Pro. I re-used my old Cambridge Soundworks speakers and bass. I also upgraded to a Dell U3415W monitor a little later. After installing the new monitor, i get audio popping. Today i tried to uninstall the sound card drivers; first i simply disabled the monitor sound card, but that didn't help. Then I uninstalled both the RealTek and the one associated with the monitor. even with both uninstalled, and the drivers removed, i still get the popping and clicking.


    Possibly related, and maybe a clue, when the sound card drivers were installed, the Winamp app i use for music would stop playing; the app still showed that music was being produced, but no sound coming out of the speakers. I can randomly click around on other applications and the sound will start working again.


    Any thoughts greatly appreciated.
