    Sound Problems


    I have 2 desktops! One I built for Win 10 preview! (Comp 2)
    Recently I booted Comp2 & it said "Loading updates, this will take some time"!

    It looked like a normal update so I just let it go, it must have taken about 45 mins!
    When it finihed, I Booted & LOW & BEHOLD IT WAS Win 8.1!
    So I updated to Win 10! Was surprised it had CORTANA! Love it!
    Then I went into a program that required sound! No sound!
    Clicked on the sound icon in task bar & it said "Digital Audio (S/PDIF) High Definition Audio Device"
    and only recognized the Mic & Earphones!

    I went to my Comp one & clicked on the Sound Icon, which works perfect, & it says "T22D390 Intel (R) Display Audio"
    I checked my system release & No1 has 10.0.10586 Build 10586. No 2 has 10586164 1511 version!

    Why is there 2 different versions of Win 10 64? One works & the other doesn't! I checked for updates on both & they are up to date!

    This is very disconcerting! Does MS know what they are doing! Why 2 different version of Win 10 on 2 similar desktops!

    Been pulling my hair out (What's Left) for TWO & 1/2 Days? trying to solve this mystery!

    Any help out there?

    Cannot get start menu to pop up. Worked till yesterday, now won't. Turned off computer and back on - still won't work

    Sound Problems

    My Win 10 no 2 Desktop has an Intel sound driver Digital Audio (S/PDIF) (High Definition Audio Device)
    NO SOUND!

    My Win 10 No. 2 Desktop has an Intel sound driver T22D390 (Intel Display/ Audio
    All Sound Works!

    I have tried every way I know to download the Intel T22D390 sound driver that works to no avail!
    Why would 2 win 10 programs have different sound drivers!

    What di I do know!

    Probably because it's not Windows and probably because the 2 computers are not exactly alike. Drivers are furnished by the manufacturer of the hardware.

    Right click on speaker icon->play back devices and set speakers as default.

    Build 10586 is the current released build. (It's also known as 1511 as in November 15, when it was released.) The 164 indicates the level of updates (through Windows Update). The latest is 164. In Winver, I get "Version 1511 (OS Build 10586.164)".

    S/PDIF is a purely digital interface. I believe that it can be used with either a coaxial cable or an optical output. Not much use with analog speakers or headphones. I wonder what your audio device is on that PC. What shows up in Device Manager for your Sound device?

    That is for EXTERNAL SPEAKERS plugged into port on back of computer!

    I want sound out of my Smart TV Monitor!

    I just received an update from MS & it has updated the driver for HDMI & everything works now!

    I suspect both assumed you had the correct drivers loaded, which apparently you did not.

    You're right. And throwing in the "I want sound out of my Smart TV Monitor!" part may have changed things. It also appeared at first that both computers didn't have the exact same build of Win10.

    I added the description of the 2 different drivers!
    It was obvious that the driver in Desktop 1 was correct "T22D390 (INTELr) Display Audio"
    and the driver in Desktop 2 was not the right "Speakers / headphones (intel SST Audio Device)
    It does not take Einstein to figure that out!

    The only question was Where can I get the correct driver!
    The question was answered after 3 days by MICROSOFT! Who miraculously automatically through an "Update" Downloaded the correct driver! WAS MS LISTENING TO MY PLEAS?
