Windows 10: Sound quiet out of nowhere on select games

Alright so I have been trying to get support on this for nearly 2 weeks, so not to sound beggy but please someone help.

Ima keep short and to the point because I have typed this out in 50 different ways at this point.

My problem is that on select games (list below of games with/without problem) my audio has gotten significantly quieter. Now I would assume this is a driver issue, however this is happening both with my hyperx headsets drivers and my realtek driver. I have had this problem with both my hyperx headset as well as a senheiser.

Some Games with problem

• Overwatch (blizzard)
• Control (xbox)
• Sea of thieves (xbox)

Games without problem

• Metro exodus (steam)
• Halo master chieft collection (steam)
• Minecraft (MC)
• Among us (xbox)

I have done all the obvious stuff already

Driver updates, windows updates, volume mixer, audio enhancements.

Only thing I could see it being is this random windows security update keeps popping up, however I doubt that's it.

Anyone else have no sound after installing Windows 10 build 10240?

Do you get sound with basic windows drivers?

I suggest you try the following steps:

Follow the steps mentioned below:

• 
  Right on the start icon and click on device manager
  
• 
  Expand Sound video and Gaming , Select the Audio adapter, right click on un-install.
  
• 
  Restart the computer.

Sound problem

Hi,

We need to investigate further so that we can identify the cause of the issue. We suggest running the Troubleshooter and see if it helps. Follow the steps below:

• Type and select Troubleshooting on the Search bar/Cortana.
• Click Hardware and Sound.
• Select Playing Audio under Sound.
• Follow the steps that will be provided.

If the steps does not work. We suggest downloading a fresh copy of the audio driver from Realtek and see if it helps.

Good surround sound headset

I know you say you're not that guy, but stepping into the $250+ range really brings a change in build quality that might have you never having to buy another set. Otherwise, getting 6 speakers with decent sound in a headset is hard, and that's what you are asking for, and I have no suggestions, but just a bump up the list. *Stick Out Tongue
