Windows 10: sound works only when screen in sleep mode on new hp elitedesk 800 G3

hello,
I have a new hp elitedesk 800 g3 and hp n270 monitor, no external speakers. I have no sound and was told that I need to purchase external speakers. but suddenly I hear sound coming from my machine while in sleep mode: a youtube lecture that I had open in a tab apparently was activated somehow was playing and the sound was clearly audible. when I wake up the computer, the video is playing with no sound. anyone know why this is happening and how to fix the sound?

is anyone else having problems with screens freezing on HP Elitedesk 800's G1, G2 and G3. We have upgraded a whole site and in particular these device types are having regular issues. freezing and Black screening.

Thanks for your reply. I've checked it's because of two different disk drives size.

The Old HP EliteDesk 800 G2 Desktop Mini - 35W is 512 GB same as the NEW HP EliteDesk 800 G3 DM – EEP is 256 GB.

It should be same disk size. 512 GB - 512GB. Then it will works. I've 75 Pc's to install same Windows 10 and same applications, by recovery image, I believe, it will be faster.

No, I did not make a backup before starting the updates. With what I have shown on the screenshot above, is it still possible to do so? Is there a rough estimate of how big a pure backup would be? (Need to know if I need a bigger USB memory stick. At least it's USB 3.0)

I'm not at that computer at the moment, but think storage space used was currently ~60GB on C: and ~15-17GB or thereabouts on D:

I did nothing beyond hooking it up to monitor, keyboard, mouse and internet, and immediately going to Windows Update.

I bought the HP Elite as I thought a business oriented machine would be more stable than some home-oriented one with a lot of superfluous stuff. I didn't check the C: drive before starting, is 60GB the usual size for a new Win10 machine, or is that bloat added from this "feature" update?

ETA: it's a compact desktop rather than laptop: (256GB not 512GB of SSD, so not crazy about the OS eating up a quarter of the drive)

So I'm guessing D: is the recovery media?
