Windows 10: speed of my windows

I have an HP laptop with Windows 10 and an intel core i3 7th gen processor which i bought two to three years back. Since the time I've been using it, it works super slow, like when I click on chrome or microsoft edge, it takes a minimum if one minute to start, when i click on settings, the settings window opens but it keeps showing me the gear image for a long time before the main menu comes. Even zoom takes time to open on my device and if I click on join for the second time in a day, the dialogue box to enter the meeting id also takes time to come, WHY IS MY LAPTOP SO SLOW??? It is really frustrating at times especially when chrome stops responding. Please help me with this issue ASAP because if someday I lose my temper, I fear I might damage my pc as I have been bearing this since a loooong long time.

could someone please list the steps they follow to install windows with a dual core processor and windows xp service pack to. I'm reletively new to amd dual core and i feel i'm missing a step. All help will be appreciated. thanx
