    I have just been reading the previous (locked) threads on Spider Solitaire, and there are many misleading opinions.


    I have Win 10 but use the game which was issued with WinXP, by copying the two files spider.exe and cards.dll into a new folder on Win 10.

    I have played it many hundreds of times without any problem or repetition.


    I have also decoded the spider.sav file which is written into the Documents folder when/if you choose to save the game,

    and written an app which exposes all the cards. Then for a new game, I save it, expose it, reload it, and play with every card face up.


    Firstly, the decks are shuffled by a random number generator seeded with the current system date in seconds.

    As I write this, the value is 1,569,598,068 or 5d8e2a74 in hex, and increases by 1 every second, so for all practical purposes the shuffle is random.

    You can prove this by changing the value in bytes 2,3,4,5 of spider.sav with a hex editor. A given value will always produce the same game.


    Secondly, it is not possible to decode the actual cards which are kept in a 104 card list inside the program, and it is this list which is shuffled.

    The 10 columns merely contain indexes 0 to 103 in that order at the start of every game.

    I also have one that lists the spider.sav file in a readable format.

    Pin Spider Solitaire


    Your Welcome ! I did not know which Spider Solitaire you are talking about, if from the one i mentioned yes you would still have go through opening it all and then open the Spider Solitaire even though being on the Taskbar.
    Check Windows store there are other Spider Solitaire as a single app or try recommended Windows 7 version.

    Thanks for your response.

    Neither Solitaire nor Spider Solitaire are listed in the "Uninstall or Change Program" list, or in "Turn Windows Features On/Off" list.

    How can I un-install them?
