Spinning Dots at Boot Up, yet again

    Hey all.

I'm also experiencing the spinning dots at boot up.

Interesting note because I haven't seen it mentioned before, but at one point I do hear the logon screen jingle , but still the dots spin.

I read a bunch and here I picked up on the cmos battery tip, where I pulled the ac cord, pulled the battery, and also shorted the jumpers to be truly clear that the bios was reset, but still no joy.

I've disconnected all USB devices, including the keyboard, and still no love.

I've disconnected all internal hardware (secondary drives, removed the sound card, etc.) and with only the video card and primary hard drive installed, restarted into the same issue, still no happiness.

I removed all 4 memory modules, and reseated them into different slots, as well as removing the video card and reseating, and I reseated the SSD - this occurred after removing all other non-essential hardware - and still no merriment.

I was able to finally (finally!) get into Safe Mode by interrupting the boot process a few times, and there I ran Malwarebyte scans, and root-kit scans. I tried also to reset windows (keep files - lose apps) and ran into issue there. I'll try again so that I can provide better details.

I was able to get into the recovery console, and performed the repair process, but found no issues.

I used the Windows Media Creation Tool, but there ran into issues trying to reset windows. Lock drive I recall. From there I jumped into the command prompt and ran a chkdsk /f , resolved issues , and it unlocked the drive, so i tried again to reset, but only sorrow.

I used the command prompt to reset the boot drive, both BCDBOOT and BOOTREC, still no smiles.

I even tried to do a brand new install from the Windows Media Creation Tool, and was told my drive that already had windows install, was not a candidate for install.

So I'm thinking about purchasing a new drive and starting over, but before I do, am hoping you fine folk have other suggestions I have yet to try.

Thank you kindly for reading my post.
    Bill

    :)

  2. Windows 10 stuck at spinning dots

so when I tried to boot up and power on Windows I am greeted by the hp logo and spinning dots, after a while the hp logo disappears and the spinning dots just stay there but however when the hp logo disappears the spinning dots spin at a lower frame
rate and the screen gets brighter. It just stays like this and I don't know what to do I can't get the system to work

  3. windows 10 does not load, stuck at preparing automatic repair, ISO does not work just windows logo and spinning dots , any fix ?

I have tried several times. I have changed the boot order in the bios and have gotten to boot from usb stick , but only get the windows logo and dots spinning in a circle. The iso does not do anything other than give the windows logo and keeps on with the
spinning dots. Same with preparing automatic

repair, I get the HP logo with preparing automatic repair and the spinning dots and it does nothing else does not go to diagnosing your pc. I have tried booting from dvd with ISO on it and get nothing but HP logo and spinning dots.

Spinning Dots at Boot Up, yet again

I've had the same problem in the past, I've always heard the startup sound but still no picture, I tried everything I could think of. I finally clean installed Windows on a new hard drive & not had the problem since.

  5. Could be this:
Graphics Card: (EVGA) GeForce GTX 970
    or this:
ATT GigaPower Fiber (100+ up and down)

It's a driver issue if it boots to safe mode, have to figure out which one.

I think I can test against the video card since the board has an integrated graphics chip / port.

But why do you suspect ATT GigaPower Fiber?
(I suppose it's not obvious, but I still have a CAT6/RJ45 connection from the modem to my rig.)
Nonetheless, easy enough to disconnect the RJ45 cable on a reboot.

If its a driver issue, since I'm in SM (Safe Mode), not sure how I'll test since bunches of drivers don't load in SM - suggestions?

Hi flazer (and welcome to Tenforums)!

Do you have backup of your important files?
    - if yes, dump that partition clean (by clean installing new Windows system)
    - if no, get Kyhi rescue disc (boot system with all necessary recovery tools on it) and make drive image with Macrium on external drive. And after this, clean install new system, after deleting partition')

You could try to repair that system with Kyhi rescue tools, but I wouldn't trust that system anymore, so better to do clean install

Spinning Dots at Boot Up, yet again

I punted and did a fresh install on a new SSD, and thus far all looks good.

Although the circumstances leading to the install suck, it is refreshing to "start over" with a clean install.

*Thumbs and while you have this fresh install...

install most used software (clean *Smile) and make system image (Macrium reflect is a great for this and free..) Make another after you completely setup your PC and if anything happens later, you can resolve it in 15 minutes by restoring it from image...)
