The UI just gets stuck indefinitely, and in 90% of the cases just doesn't work. The cmd prompt method is very, very far from easy for the unsophisticated computer user.I have had this p

    Spooler/Printer Queue problems

    Printer queue

    Hi Al

    1

To check if there is a corruption on your Print Queue, try manually clearing the Print Queue

Click your Start Button, then just type cmd

On the resulting list, right-click “Command Prompt” and select “Run as administrator“

Paste the following commands into Command Prompt, one at a time and press Enter after each one:

    net stop spooler

    del %systemroot%\System32\spool\printers\* /Q

    net start spooler

The print queue on your Windows should now be cleared.

    Close Command Prompt

    2

If that does not resolve the Print Queue behavior, go to the support page for your printer on the manufacturers website, then from there, download and install the recommended drivers and associated software . . .
