Windows 10: sql server management studio

Hi!

I have been using an electronic health record system for the past 10 years. I am retiring soon but will still need access to the 'ehr' information for 7 years. The people who run the program that I use tell me that the information is in sql. I have a choice how to access this information. I can pay the monthly fee of ($74) or I can export every page for every client that I have seen for the past 10 years to Excel. But I can also receive all the information on a disk if I am transitioning to another Electron Health Record Program.


My question is about the sql server management studio. I have a laptop that currently has Windows 10 as the operating system. While I have used computers for many years, I have not learned the technical aspects of any program. Is the SQL management studio difficult to use? How much room on my hard drive might I need for 475 people with each having quite a few 'pages' each. I just don't know if I am capable of using the program. Any information that I have found on my search seems complicated.

Support end date of SQL Server Management Studio?

I searched with the words "SQL Server Management Studio" at Microsoft’s Support Lifecycle Database, and it did not show any list there.





Should I search with other words? I installed the latest version of SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) V17.1 on my workstation. It is just a client machine and it doesn't get installed SQL Server itself on the box. it connects to server that got installed
SQL Server 2008. In this case how should I search "the end of support date" of the SSMS?
