Windows 10: Squeaking sound when i plug my speakers into my usb hub

Hey,

I have recently bought a new 7-port USB hub, it was working perfectly fine with all my devices, except my speakers, when I plugged it in, it made a high-pitch squeaking sound, even when the volume is on mute, it works fine when plugged directly through one of my laptop's ports, so now I know its not something wrong with my speakers.

Disable beep sound when plugging/unplugging laptop charger

I would suggest you to follow the steps and check if it helps.

Disable the PC Speakers and check if it helps.

• Right click on Sound Icon in the task bar and go to Playback devices.
  
• Select Speaker and click on properties.
  
• Go to Levels tab, and mute (or you can reduce it) PC Speaker and check if it helps.
  

 

USB Port Hub Problem

As you have mention that there was some update which got installed, I suggest you to restart the computer once and check if it helps.

If the issue still persist, I suggest you to plug in the hub and run the
Hardware and Sound troubleshooter and check.

Follow the steps provided below to run Hardware and Sound troubleshooter.

  Press Windows Key + X key, Click on Control Panel.

  Type troubleshooting in the search bar, click on troubleshooting.

  Click on Hardware and Sound, click on Hardware and Devices.

  Follow the steps from the wizard to run the troubleshooter.

USB HUB

Hi,

Incompatible USB hub driver is one of the possible reasons why this issue is happening. We recommend uninstalling the USB Root Hub driver and see if it helps. Follow the stepes below:

• Open Device Manager.
  
• Double-click Universal Serial Bus controllers to expand.
  
• Right-click USB Root Hub, then click Properties.
  
• Go to the Driver tab.
  
• Click Uninstall.
  
• Restart your computer.
  

Note: Restarting your computer will automatically reinstall a generic driver for your computer. Also, we suggest connecting your USB hub while performing the steps.

If the issue still persists, let's disable the USB selective suspend settings thru Power Options to resolve the issue. Follow the steps below:

• Type Power Options in the search box, then press Enter.
• Locate USB settings > USB selective suspend settings.
• Select Disable.
