Windows 10: Srttrail.txt error caused by windows update not finishing?

Hey, my laptop recently ran into an error where it wouldn’t boot properly and was giving me an error with a file address leading to srttrail.exe, so far I believe I’ve fixed it by a system restore as my laptop is fine again and an update was automatically installed last night.



Was wondering if it was potentially caused by an update not finishing as my laptop died? Or potentially just the update itself if so should i uninstall the latest update? I did leave my laptop unplugged on low battery by accident the other night, so thats why I’m wondering if it was an update that didnt finish. Would it have been a virus potentially?


Curious if there are any further effects on my laptop that I should be aware of, and if I should copy important files over to an external HDD incase that happens again? Or is there a better way to back up files?

No, that > bla.txt is the target file to write to. You could use a wildcard in the argument, ie c:\windows\*.txt which would list all dlls in c:\windows. But adding that to a simple right-click would be tricky.

Basically you would execute fancyfile.bat c:\windows\*.txt, fancyfile.bat would then write all .txt files to bla.txt.
