That was about two days ago, and it's now at 20%. Strangely, CrystalDiskInfo doesn't report my remaining life (just says 'Good') and the demo of SDLife said I'm at 100%. I'm not sure what to think or do here, and I'm starting to panic.

Fortunately, I had this report from HWiNFO64 lying around from earlier for some reason (followed by a new one).

    clean install on PCIE SSD

Yes! Once Windows 10 is activated on a device, it remains activated for the life of the device, as long as you don't change the motherboard or CPU.

If you're simply migrating from a HDD to a SSD, you don't have to reinstall. Make an image of the HDD and restore it to the SSD.

Request - Patch windows 10 readyboost!

    Ziron,

Posting here will not achieve anything. Use the Feedback hub that you'll find a link to in your Start menu.

    If it is any reassurance,

    • I have taken no precautions at all to reduce SSD usage.
    • My SanDisk SSD is over two years old.
    • SanDisks's utility shows that it has 99% life remaining.

"Remaining Life" is not an exact number by any means, Different programs interpret it different ways. Parameters taken into account are time in service, amount written to disk, off - on cycle count but also number and/or type of errors encountered. If there are no errors like bad/relocated sector count or weak spots found, you can disregard "Remaining Life" all together.

For the heck of it, you can also try chkdsk C: /f then reboot.(if other than C: then no reboot is needed.)

    SSD Remaining Life Problem

If you have a regular backup regime, you won't need to worry about end of life so much.

    1. Toshiba's SSD Utility says "no drives available."

    2. Trim is enabled.

    3. I also looked in the BIOS and can't even find an option for SMART.

    4. I'm not sure if this is in any way related, but I looked in Process Monitor and found wmiprvse.exe is accessing tzres.dll like hundreds of times a second constantly. I did the trace thing in Event Viewer and got this: Code: - <Event xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/win/2004/08/events/event"> - <System> <Provider Name="Microsoft-Windows-WMI-Activity" Guid="{1418ef04-b0b4-4623-bf7e-d74ab47bbdaa}" /> <EventID>12</EventID> <Version>0</Version> <Level>4</Level> <Task>0</Task> <Opcode>0</Opcode> <Keywords>0x8000000000000000</Keywords> <TimeCreated SystemTime="2017-10-15T18:34:25.347138800Z" /> <EventRecordID>1</EventRecordID> <Correlation ActivityID="{F5C2C620-FADB-4A07-9B64-422ED848656A}" /> <Execution ProcessID="3904" ThreadID="5368" ProcessorID="2" KernelTime="45" UserTime="179" /> <Channel>Microsoft-Windows-WMI-Activity/Trace</Channel> <Computer>MSI</Computer> <Security UserID="S-1-5-21-2428832878-749850303-1137951395-1001" /> </System> - <UserData> - <Operation_Provider_Info_New xmlns="http://manifests.microsoft.com/win/2006/windows/WMI"> <GroupOperationId>303</GroupOperationId> <Operation>Provider::CreateInstanceEnum - CIMWin32 : Win32_Process</Operation> <HostId>5380</HostId> <ProviderName>CIMWin32</ProviderName> <ProviderGuid>{d63a5850-8f16-11cf-9f47-00aa00bf345c}</ProviderGuid> <Path>%systemroot%\system32\wbem\cimwin32.dll</Path> </Operation_Provider_Info_New> </UserData> </Event>[/quote] So cimwin32.dll and I guess winmgmt (PID 3904).

I also don't know if it's related, but I just switched from Avast to BitDefender yesterday and in Firefox I just set the sessionstore setting to 15 minutes instead of seconds.

I'm sorry, I know I'm just vomiting out random information at this point, but I don't really know what else to do.
