    SSD running very slowly ...

Good p.m. I have an Intel NUC mini computer with an HP SSD S700 500GB solid state drive running
Windows 10. When I check the "Driver Fine Details" is shows the SSD driver provider to be Microsoft.
I recently installed the version 20H2 update. I am streaming video, buffering it in RAM, and
saving the video files as AVI to the SSD. My goal is to acquire full-frame video as fast as the
camera is capable of uploading the video to RAM, which is ~ 224 MB/sec. The manual for the HP SSD
S700 500GB indicates that the unit is capable of "Sustained sequential write: Up to 518 MB/s".
The SSD is ~ 85% empty, the Windows anti-virus programs are disabled and there are no other
applications running. I checked the BIOS and AHCI mode is enabled. When I monitor the Disk
usage in the Task Manager what is happening is that while the disk usage is at ~ 100% the
real-time write speed to the disk fluctuates from 200 to 10 MB/sec and, unfortunately, spends
most of the time at ~ 10 MB/sec. The net result of this is that the RAM buffer fills up and

slows down the net frame-rate. I have tried two separate, independent applications that run the

camera and save the data to the SSD and both produce the same result. I tested the speed of the

SSD with CrystalDisk and it reported a write speed of 446 MB/sec. If anyone has some ideas on

what I can do to diagnose this problem it'd be appreciated. Thanks.

    :)

Windows running slowly in specific situations

Over the last few days (since maybe Thursday but definitely Friday) my Win10 machine has been running slowly in certain situations. The programs iTunes, GSAK, and Unreal Tournament 2004 run slowly in general, much slower than my new hardware has been able to output since I bought it less than two months ago. Other programs are substantially slower than normal to load, but act quite fine once they've been loaded (Sid Meier's Civilization V and Overwatch are two notable exmaples - they take up to six times longer to load than they did this time last week). The change was sudden but not noticeable straightaway.

One further change I've noticed is that whenever I go to shut down or reboot the computer, it tells me it's "Getting Windows ready" despite there being no updates to my knowledge. It tends to hang on that screen for some time before it actually shuts down or reboots - I'm not sure how long it takes as I often lose patience and go and do something else, but it's more than expected.

    Steps I've already tried:
    • rebooting
    • antivirus scan
    • uninstalling programs I've installed within the last week
    • rolling back Windows updates (which I've found to be basically impossible)
    • cleaning up the fullest hard drive (I've more than doubled the free space on it)
    • updating my video card drivers
    • defragging all three hard drives

    Any ideas?

    PC Build Steps

Ok just because I like steps i am going to create some steps. Please give me the stamp of approval/disapproval
    • Install system in case
      • Remember to connect SSD and optical to same SATA ports on motherboard
    • Turn on PC
    • setup HDD
    • run blend test in prime95 for 30-60 min
      • run realtemp at the same time
    • While in Prime95 test
      • if CPU goes above 70c in RealTemp, I have a leaky CPU
      • if my system locks up or blue screens, there is an instability in the system somewhere
      • if my system does not lock up or blue screen, my CPU is not damaged and I am in the clear!
    What do you guys think??
