  2. Search Icon and Start Menu not clickable

Thanks for the response. I've tried everything as advised in the link but still no joy. It's made no difference whatsoever. Both the Search icon and the Start Menu are still not clickable. What else can I try?

Start menu default internet acces icon screwed?

You generally set that via the Start Menu settings (right-click start menu -> properties).

I had that issues a while ago, and it meant removing it from the Start Menu, and reinstalling my browser to get the icon back, it was very odd.

Search Icon and Start Menu not clickable

Lately the search icon in the Taskbar on my PC does not respond to some search results when clicked.

I came across a thread on the internet advising that the Index be rebuilt. I did as instructed (it took a long time) but now, not only is the search icon not clickable as before, but even the start menu does not respond when clicked and the PC cannot
    be shut down.

Even when the power button on the front of the PC is pressed, nothing happens. The red LED keeps flashing (as if something is happening in the background) and the PC fails to shut down. The only way then to shut the PC down is to unplug from the mains.

What could be the problem? Can someone please assist?
