Windows 10: Start menu freezes for less then a minute

When I click on the start menu, the start menu freezes for less then a minute. This issue happens randomly. Only the start menu freezes not the computer. If any of the program is open on a different 2nd monitor I can use the program without any issue. I'm the only person in the organisation facing this weird issue. All the computer in the network is connected to proxy and AD.

I have already tried the following:

I had a look at the event viewer for the issue

I ran "sfc /scannow"

I have reset zone in Internet Explorer

I used the computer without proxy

The issue still exists. I can't afford to re-install Windows on my organisation laptop because we are just so busy with the projects with tight deadlines. Please anyone can help me out here.

Windows 10 Start menu is empty

Hi. Steps 1 and 2 didn't do much but step 3 has restored what looks like the list of original Microsoft apps but no sign of any of the many apps I have installed. And there are no tiles in the start menu. Any suggestions please?

Start menu and Cortana not working/freezes?

Hi Bob,

Welcome to Microsoft Community and thank you for your interest in Windows 10.

I suggest you to follow the below steps and check if it helps.

Open an Administrator CMD window. If you can’t find a way, use these steps:

Press CTRL+Shift+ESC to open Task Manager.

Click File > Run New Task

Make sure you have a check mark beside “Create this task with administrative privileges”

Type CMD

Type the following commands at the CMD prompt:

dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

sfc /scannnow

If the above commands both completed and show no remaining issues, run these commands:

powershell

Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers |Where-Object {$_.InstallLocation -like "*SystemApps*"} | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

I had this issue about two weeks ago ("Critical Error -- Start menu and Cortana aren't working. We'll try to fix it the next time you sign in."). At that time I tried the steps you listed above and it worked but now those steps are no longer working.
Do you have any other suggestions? I have been having various issues with Windows 10 ever since I converted from Windows 7. But this is the worst problem.
