Windows 10: Start Menu Icons - Missing

Ok this is clearly an ongoing problem that Microsft are failing to address, but it needs to be aired.

So for ages I have had an issue with or one or two menu icons vanishing from some programs, Google Chrome being the longest running one. But this question is not about any one application and reinitialising its icon. As this morning it is Fiefox, Thunderbird, Chrome and all of the Microsoft Office suite.


The contextual action that may or may not have contributed to this is that I switched anti-virus software yesterday.

The question is what can be done if anything to stop this happening?

I want to use my valuable and minimal spare-time at home when on the computer in the pursuit of whatever I intended to do - not have to spend it writing forum questions or searching for fixs to issues.

I followed all your troubleshooting steps and the icons are still missing. All of the missing icons in the start menu are all windows store apps. If you have any further suggestions on what to try, please let me know. Thanks.

 

Start menu default internet acces icon screwed?

You generally set that via the Start Menu settings (right-click start menu -> properties).

I had that issues a while ago, and it meant removing it from the Start Menu, and reinstalling my browser to get the icon back, it was very odd.
