    Start Menu Not Working

    Hey all, so i've been struggling for the last few hours after a re-install of windows 10 - I had been encoutnering issues with another application so I decided to just blow my OS and start from scratch. I had been running on that OS for 5 months without any issue.

    So I first attempted to just reset the PC, but that failed and I had to go all the way back to windows 7 to upgrade again , got that all done - windows 10 installed fine , no sign of the startup bug, walked away for 5 minutes to find that the PC had restarted and installed updates by itself and now the start menu and task bar don't work at all. I have tried the following

    SRC / scannow command

    Powershell - Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml”}
    Uninstalled dropbox
    Uninistalled A/V
    Enabled System Admin Account (Doesn't work on there either)

    I've pretty much tried everything that I could possibly find on the internet with no avail... currently just reseting again (hopefully it actually works this time). But if I am plauged by the problem again does anyone have any fixes ? it seems to happen with a clean install after updates are installed.

    :)

  3. Windows 10 Start Menu right click menu not working

    I am having the same issue. I'm not sure how creating a local user account in Windows 10 will help. Can you explain? It seems like extra work and I'm not sure why it was working before and not working now.

    Removing the UsrClass.dat file can in most cases fix issues with Start and / or Cortana not working.

    In Windows, the hidden file UsrClass.dat stores quite a number of user account related information. In cases when the profile seems not be functioning properly, a simple reset (delete / recreate) of this file might in most cases solve the issue.

    Open File Explorer, type %localappdata%\Microsoft\Windows in addressbar and hit Enter to open the AppData\Local folder. Select View menu in Explorer, enable Hidden items. Now delete the UsrClass.dat file and reboot.

    When rebooted and the UsrClass.dat file is not found Windows will create a new one. Check if everything works now.

    Really best to simply clean install windows 10 from scratch as you have wiped everything anyway.

    Create usb installation stick using

    Windows 10

    Boot from usb stick, select custom install, delete all partitions and skip key entry (not needed as you have already upgraded).
