Couldn't agree more, but regrettably I get the impression that no-one in MS land is listening, like whose idiotic idea was it to remove the help! Don't even get me started on the new "improved" (not) Windows Explorer.

We are not alone Dave. This forum is doing it's best to help users of Windows 10 get stabilized and familiar with new tweaks. Truth is, the major players here have excellent knowledge that I have experienced in Vista and W7 forums. Very useful information indeed.

And I respect Brink for his timeless efforts in all forums, he and the team work diligently every day on these boards.

I know that PC enthusiasts, young and old want to have the "latest and greatest" new thing. However, if you look up my past posts in this forum I have embedded several images showing the interface as we have known from Windows 7 all the way back to Windows 98. You will also see my argument that MOST people want Familiarity with an OS, not a new learning curve.

Just crazy how M$ made W8 and then had to scuttle it. Looks like W10 maybe headed in the same direction and a resurrection of Windows 7 is simply the smartest thing M$ can do for keyboard and mouse users.

It doesn't work off the start menu in win10, I posted the same a few weeks ago.

Oddly, if the programs appear in most recent used, then you do get the recent files list. Or if you pin to the task bar, you also get the recent list if you right click the icon.

Microsoft's proper name for these recent files is jump list.

Some has shown a beta of a later win10, and the jump list might return if pinned to the start menu. Doubly annoying is if you pin a program to the start menu, it's removed from most used.

See here: How do I get recent docs when pinned to start? - Windows 10 Forums

No, "Recent Items" wasn't the same as a jump list - jump lists are application specific. I wanted (and now have thanks to ClassicShell) the "Recent Items" function of Windows 7.

What recent items do you mean? There's a most used that lists programs?
