Start Menu/Search/Action Center not working. Unable to load DCOM Server (Event ID: 10001)

    Hello guys!
I got an issue that I used a registry cleaner then the News store app stopped working so I used the get-appx Powershell command to try to fix it then start menu (ShellExperienceHost & Cortana) stopped working.

    What I tried so far
    • In-place upgrade didn't fix the issue
    • sfc /scannow didn't find any corruption
    • DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth No corruption detected
    • DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth Command runned but didn't fix anything
    • Uninstalled Anti-Virus
    • Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers| Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml”} Didn't work
    • Created new user profile

Now I got these errors in Event Viewer for the apps:
    • Unable to start a DCOM Server: Microsoft.Windows.Cortana_1.12.2.18334_neutral_neutral_cw5n1h2txyewy!CortanaUI as Unavailable/Unavailable. The error:"2147958031"Happened while starting this command:"C:\Windows\SystemApps\Microsoft.Windows.Cortana_cw5n1h2txyewy\SearchUI.exe" -ServerName:CortanaUI.AppXa50dqqa5gqv4a428c9y1jjw7m3btvepj.mca

    • Unable to start a DCOM Server: Microsoft.Windows.StartMenuExperienceHost_10.0.18334.1_neutral_neutral_cw5n1h2txyewy!App as Unavailable/Unavailable. The error:"2147958031"Happened while starting this command:"C:\Windows\SystemApps\Microsoft.Windows.StartMenuExperienceHost_cw5n1h2txyewy\StartMenuExpe rienceHost.exe" -ServerName:App.AppXywbrabmsek0gm3tkwpr5kwzbs55tkqay.mca (Event ID: 10001)
Please tell me of any possible solutions other than clean install because I want clean install to be my last resort as I have a lot of apps/programs installed in the system!

    Thanks!

    Regards,
    addas

Event 10001 DistributedCOM: Unable to start a DCOM Server: {9AA46009-3CE0-458A-A354-715610A075E6} "Error 740"

    Hi everyone,

I wish a MS guru to solve this out.. PLEASE!

I got dozen of entries, immediately after boot, like this one, Event 10001
    DistributedCOM:

The Event number above is confirmed: not a typo. It's Event 10001.

    Goes like this:

Unable to start a DCOM Server: {9AA46009-3CE0-458A-A354-715610A075E6} as Unavailable/Unavailable. The error:

    "740"

    Happened while starting this command:

    C:\WINDOWS\System32\rundll32.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\shell32.dll,SHCreateLocalServerRunDll {9aa46009-3ce0-458a-a354-715610a075e6} -Embedding

on a Win10 Home, all patched and everything.

Already reading the error I wonder why in 2017, there is no link for things like

    Event 10001
    or
    Error 740
or {9aa46009-3ce0-458a-a354-715610a075e6} : those are standard things, might be linked to MS site for easier search, no ?

Being a MCSE, I am going crazy to find a reason for that, given that in DCOM mmc console, this DCOM element (which does exist there) has absolutely no details (columns are blank, no detail or propriety whatsoever).

This might be cause by the fact that it didn't start, but I have doubts.

Can't find any decent documentation on the Internet.. Just this site has something similar, but it's NOT it:

    Event ID 10016 - DistributedCOM

Why to have an error message if no one knows what that means ?

Appreciating any help on this one ! Thanks !!

    Hello,

Yes, I know that this request for help seems familiar, and that is because it has been around a very long time. I had the same problem on this computer about six weeks ago. I thought I had fixed the problem with a Systems Restore, and a Reset operation.
The problem now is the same as before except that some of t

I suggest you to create a new User Account and check if issue occurs.

To create a new User Account follow these steps:

    • Click on Start.
    • Click on Settings.
    • Type ‘Add, delete and manage other user accounts’ in search box.
    • Now click on ‘Add someone else to this pc’.
    • And follow the instructions to create a new User Account.
