Windows 10: Start Menu, Search Bar, Windows Store not functioning

Good day,

I recently tinkered around with folder/app permissions while trying to download some software, and it seems I broke a few things along the way.

I am currently unable to use the start button on the bottom left pressing the windows Key doesnt work either, I cannot click or type into the search bar, and I noticed my Windows Store will not open. This first came to my attention when I realized my iTunes was missing. I never deleted iTunes, so I have no idea how this happened. Upon trying to redownload iTunes it appeared the Windows App store wouldn't open at all. I tried running DISM via Command Prompt with no luck. I tried troubleshooting the Windows App Store and was advised of an issue with "Hanging or Crashing Apps" but the troubleshooter could not fix this. I also tried typing this into PowerShell and it did not work -> PowerShell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted -Command "& {$manifest = Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.WindowsStore.InstallLocation + '\AppxManifest.xml' ; Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $manifest}"


The most important detail is when I start up my PC I am greeted with two errors.

Something about Win32Bridge Server, and another error for MobileDeviceApplication from iTunes.

Both of these errors end in "This parameter is incorrect". These errors occurred to me after I tried taking permission of my Local Disk C:, which was previously not allowing me to save a file on it according to lack of administrative rights even though I am the sole User of my PC. This PC was purchased secondhand, maybe has something to do with it. Any feedback is appreciated. Please help!!!!

• Are you getting any error message when you click on Start Menu?

I suggest you to follow the steps provided in Microsoft Help Article about Start menu issues and also try to start Windows Search service. Check if it helps.

Step 2: I suggest you to try to start Windows Search services
and check if it helps.

1. Press Windows Key + R Key.

2. Type "services.msc" without the quotes and click on it.

3. Search for Windows Search.

4. Double click on it and under Startup type, select
Automatic.

5. Then click on Start button.


Note: If you are not able to change the Startup type, then continue starting the service by clicking on Start button.

No Search Bar in Start Menu

Hello,

My start menu has no search bar. I looked this up on the forum, and one answer was to go into Control Panel -> Programs & Features -> Turn Windows features on or off -> check mark the box for 'Windows Search' -> Reboot.

Problem 1: 'Windows Search' is not on my list of Windows items that can be turned on or off.

Where is the search bar?

Problem 2: I need the search bar to find the Snipping Tool!
