Windows 10: Start menu stopped working

The Startmenu stopped loading at startup and/or when depressing window. It use to work fine. New updates are messing up and resetting many of my settings.

My start menu icons aren't showing up properly!

I have same problem, the start menu is not working. when you click it , nothing happened. Microsoft edge and store icon are missing on the taskbar.

Please try the following PowerShell command and check if it helps:

• Open the Task manager. Here’s a tip: Press CTRL+Shift+ESC.
  
• Click File > Run New Task.
• Make sure you have a check mark beside “Create this task with administrative privileges”.
• Type PowerShell.
• Type the following in the PowerShell prompt:
  
  $manifest = (Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.WindowsStore).InstallLocation + '\AppxManifest.xml' ; Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $manifest
  
• Close the PowerShell window.
• Reboot.

Have you ran a system file check?

 

Does it to me once in a while too.

Just Sign out by using Ctrl Alt Delete and Sign back in again.

 

Now I get a message the their is problem with edge, to contact system administrator. I am a home user so Microsquih screws up again.

 

I've had a non responsive Start Menu happen several times now. Happens if I upgrade by running setup.exe from the current Windows install. I upgraded 3 PC's from Pro to Enterprise by mounting my Enterprise ISO and running setup.exe. I then had a non working start menu on the first log in. Rebooting has fixed it though. Non of the icons on my taskbar would work either, it was like explorer crashed and wouldn't restart.

 

It is Monday. I realized to run SFC from the command prompt. It is running now.
