  1. Starting Edge brings up screen warning

When I start edge, (Using the new 10240 release) I get a warning screen that says:
WARNING: ACDnet Customer - Your PC may have critical security vulnerabilities, Call 8880491-6283 now for IMMEDIATE assistance. There is an OK box on the screen. Clicking on OK takes away the box, but you cannot close the Edge program, no matter what you do.
From my speaker is a very high pitched pinging sound that repeats constantly.

I have tried everything that I know to remove it. You cannot close the Edge program, once you open the program! The only way out is to use CTRL-ALT-DEL select task manager and delete the task.
Does anyone have any ideas what is going on.

Attached "Screen Grab" file shows the details of what I am getting.
    File is: 2015-07-16 21_59_07-Action center.png

    Any suggestion would be appreciated,
    George

  2. Problems with FLASH and JAVA messages warning of security problems in Windows 10 with Edge

I am running AVG Internet Security, Windows 10, and frequently get a screen warning me that there is a security problem and to call a number to fix. I know better. I have the pop-up blocker turned on. The problem DOES NOT happen if I run IE. I can fix
the issue by bringing up Task Manager and then Edge and QUICKLY shutting Edge down. What else can I do, this is getting to be a real nuisance.

Starting Edge brings up screen warning

That's a fake virus page. I ran into myself once, and it's very difficult to get rid of, since the only way to close edge is to kill it, and when you start it back up, it reopens the same page. I don't know how it manages to prevent closing the page, but it does.

I had to open settings, and set a new startup page, and even then had to play around until I managed to get it to load without reloading the page...

  5. I have seen this also in the past both on 10 and my reg system 8.1
I run MalwareBytes and it should get rid of it.

  6. I have a full registered copy of MalwareBytes running in 10, but it does not seem to be able to find and isolate this problem.
I will do some more poking around today and see if I can find a way to isolate and delete what ever is causing this situation.
Interesting that in 10166 I did a lot of testing with Edge and never had a problem. Now I do a first time run of the "New" edge in 10240 and get this result. It is almost like it was downloaded and installed with this virus attached!

It's not a virus. It doesn't do anything to your computer. It just gets Edge into a loop that its hard to get out of.

That's why I called a 'fake virus', because it claims you have a virus, but you don't.

Thanks for the clarification, I am still struggling to find and stop the fake virus!

So this morning here is what I have done and found.
My Malwarebytes definition file was out of date. I download the new version and ran a scan. It found, isolated, and removed about a dozen files. None seem related to the problem at hand.
I then ran Edge again. Same kind of result, but a different message box this time. (See screen_shot_1)
I did a search of the "C" drive to see where the file was stored. (See screen_shot_2)
Went to that file location. (screen _shot_3)
Looked like it was the cache directories location for Edge. Deleted all the cache files listed. (see screen_shot_4)

Restarted windows 10, still have the problem with Edge in a loop that you cannot get out of.

Any further suggestions appreciated! I am still wondering if it was downloaded with 10240, as it occurred the first time I opened Edge.

(The screen shots are in reverse order, screen_shot_4, then 3, then 2, and then 1)

Like I said, I tried a number of things... and finally managed to get rid of it... the easiest may be to simply disable your networking, kill it, then restart. then close then navigate somewhere lese and close the window.

Mystere can one block using the Hosts file in Edge like in IE? You know what I'm getting at? So this never happens again. Being I haven't used the last couple of builds, I don't know how fare Edge is now.

I do but I have no plans of using Edge until MS can add extensions like Adblock to get rid of all of those ads. MBAM is supposed to stop fake virus's but they probably will not support anything in Win 10 until it is released.

Yeah I was wondering how long until MBAE supports Edge.

  15. Gentlemen, problem solved!

I unhooked the network cable to the router.
Started Edge and the problem was there. Opened the Edge settings page. Selected Clear Browsing Date and then made sure that ALL were checked, including the second group that does not initially open when the selection is made.

Took several minutes to finish. I then restarted Windows 10. When I opened Edge, the address of the problem file was in the address bar of the browser, but it could not go there, the network cable was still unhooked.

I then closed the tab that had the bad old address and then just to make sure, cleared ALL the browsing date for the second time.
I restarted Windows 10 and then plugged in the network cable, it connected. Opened Edge and it immediately connected to the MSN site! PROBLEM SOLVED ! ! !

I am still bothered that this situation happened the very first time I tried to run the Edge Browser. I have 4 other Browsers working in windows 10, and they all worked properly during the time that this problem was happening within Edge.

I am still concerned that this problem came out of nowhere, and occurred the very first time I started Windows 10240, with the first time running Edge.

Thanks to Mystre for suggesting that I unhook the network and clear out everything from Edge.
    It worked! ! !
