    my laptop stalls when starting up before putting in the pin. I have lost the pictures background also. I lost my microsoft account information and had put it all in but it keeps doing it over and over. I finally restored it back to get it to work somewhat normally. I have run avast virus and malware and didn't find anything.

    Computer stalls on startup

    When I start my Dell desktop in the AM, the circle of rotating dots comes on. It completes two revolutions and stalls on the third. I turn off the computer and turn it back on again. Then the start up completes. I am afraid it will stall permanently.
    I can't install Windows 10 on my other computers. I think I removed 'risky' procedures from the startup routine in Task Manager. Anyone with similar experience? Thanks.

    Cannot launch Settings on startup menu

    Hi Luky,

    Thank you for posting your reply.

    I suggest you to perform a Startup Repair by following the steps below.

    • In the Lock screen, press/hold the shift key and click on power icon>restart.
    • Click on Troubleshoot>Advanced Options>Startup Repair and follow the prompts to start the Startup Repair.
    After the Startup Repair is complete, check for the status.
