  1. Static Noises for Audio

    Windows 10 Home 64bit, HP Pavilion dv7

When I play videos on Youtube or Vimeo or music on SoundCloud (which is as much as I tested), I hear a static sound. It happens the most often for YouTube, maybe 10 seconds, and less often for Vimeo and SoundCloud. This impacts headphones (Beats) and speakers.

How can I fix this static sound? I'm using, for all my audio stuff, IDT Audio.

    :)

If don't have the latest IDT audio driver, download it here: Drivers Software - HP Support Center.

Someone on the Microsoft Forums also suggested this:
    1. Select IDT High Definition Audio CODEC on Device Manager.
    2. Select Driver tab.
    3. Click Update Driver... button.
    4. Select -> Browse my computer for driver software.
    5. Select -> Let me pickup a list of device drivers on my computer.
    6. Select High Definition Audio Device (Not IDT High Def... this is important.) and click Next.
Appears Warning message, but reply Yes.
    7. ! Windows has successfully update r driver software.

    Is this since win10?

    Maybe electromagnetic interference?
    Try another browser

  5. I've been getting this since I installed Windows 10.

I tried a YouTube video with Firefox and got the static noise, and I tried Microsoft Edge and got the static noise.

Have you tried another audio playback MP# etc..with the PC?? If sounds like it has static .. it's the drivers.

  9. I tried installing the driver on the website, but during the installation it said that my hardware is not compatible (even though it came preloaded with it). I have the HP Pavilion dv7.

And for the "Let me pickup a list of device drivers on my computer" part, it only showed "Audio Endpoint" and "Generic software device".

  10. Just tried one out with iTunes, and I didn't get the static noise.

EDIT: I did get one static noise midway through my second song *Sad

Then it's likely a driver issue.

Other than finding the drivers from the MFG.. I would have no other suggestion at the moment. EDIT: You can try to use the drivers that worked with 8.1/8.. 7

I am using SP65012.exe "VERSION: 6.10.6498.0 REV: A" and it is working for me on Windows 10 64 bit. You can try it or SP65631.exe "VERSION: 6.10.6499.0 REV: J" but this is incompatible with my hardware "hp Envy M6". Please notice that 6.10.6503 and 6.10.6504 are also available from Microsoft but they did not work for me.
    L: ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp65001-65500/sp65012.exe
    L: ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp65501-66000/sp65631.exe

Uninstall your current Audio drivers. After installing one of the above and rebooting, you need to open Control Panel (Hardware and Sound --> Sound --> Playback, Click on the Speakers icon --> properties --> advanced ) and (Default Format) change the sampling rate in from 16 bit 48000 to 16/24 bit 44100 or any other rate, so the you don't have broken sound in Youtube.

Also, notice that changes to beats audio on/off or sound quality adjustments (like equalizer) will not be heard real time. Make the changes, stop and restart whatever you are listening to, so that you hear the sound quality adjustments you made.

Until IDT produces properly working drivers, good luck. If this works for you, please feedback so that others may benefit.
