    I have to agree with MM's advice: every infection needs to be identified so it can be properly dealt with.
    Restoring system images is also one way to deal with some infections.
    I might also add that some infections even create a hidden partition on your HDD, so restoring the OS partition will not get rid of it.

    Just something to think about.

    It's good to keep at least some images in reserve in case you inadvertently make one that contains a virus. I keep at least 7 prior images in reserve, storing them on a external HDD that is not connected to the PC at all times. When I make one, I delete the oldest one & this way if I should make one that's compromised, I can go back to the image before that.

    How often you make them is up to you, myself, I make a system image every 2 weeks. This way should I end up with a compromised image, I won't need to go back so far that I'll have to do a lot of catching up on things that were added/updated during that time.
